community

Imagine community, know you have community, create community

A co-created temporary autonomous community involves everyone. Expect to spend an hour or two each day taking care of things other than your awesome self. It may be preparing dinner or washing dishes, building a fire, running a workshop, or other inspired or absurd leadership.

The more-experienced help the less-experienced get dialed in on how things happen. When we all accept co-equal responsibility for our gathering, the basic needs of all gathering-goers can be met in a spirit of playful cooperation.

The vision of our Sanctuary

Our heavily wooded Sanctuary, on a small beaver-habitat lake in the Superior National Forest, is a minimally tamed and rather rustic land. Our vision since 1989 has been to preserve the Sanctuary land and water as a safe place - apart from yet very connected to the wider worlds - as a place-between of emotional and spiritual well-being for loving, healing, playing, and working together in cooperation, as a community of kindred fae souls.

Facilitation

KivaWe are creating an expression of the world we want to live in! This gathering has ambitious goals for learning, acting, and being. If you want to offer yoga, meditations, eruptions of song, sex-magic, walks in the woods, training on non-violent resistance, or whatever other activity that you know needs to be shared – do it!

We know that our own selves, including you, are deep resources for teaching, sharing, and playing.

Please fill out this form to let us know what you want to offer, and to be listed on the schedule page.

Rituals

Rituals honoring the sacred aspects of life are to be expected and encouraged at the Faerie Spirit Gathering. Come prepared to create rituals for yourself and others. This is a time to celebrate the spiritual side of your being - so, bring the tools and ideas that will create those special celebrations. FYI the full moon transits Kawashaway 1:03 p.m. Sunday June 11th.

Workdays

Tuesday and Wednesday June 6-7, and Tuesday and Wednesday June 13-14 are setup and cleanup days. A few helping hands are a must! Please let us know on the registration form if you can arrive early or stay on to help.

Food!

Working magik, offering gifts of knowledge or action, playing, being, even napping, all use up a body's energy. There will be plenty of wholesome, yummy vegetarian eats available. Before the gathering we are asking for help planning and ordering food.

Each gathering meal calls for Mom (that's you volunteering, friends) plus a few choppers/stirrers. Please plan to assist with at least one meal. Plan to do dishes a few times. If you are willing to Mom a meal let us know on the registration form.

Monk-E prepsA smoothly unfolding gathering runs on its pantry. We have a need for a highly motivated Pantry Diva (training available) who will, with helpers, be setting up the pantry on site and then coordinating pantry supplies with all the meal Mom's. Volunteer food transporters also needed.

Food cost is covered by the registration fees you pay. Feel free to supplement your diet in any way you need, however, refrigeration is extremely limited. Priority is given to medications and perishable food purchased by and for the gathering.

Register, Register, please pre-Register

We've said it elsewhere, but it bears repeating. We are counting on your pre-registration to be able to plan events and buy enough food and supplies for us all. If you need to pay later, or make special financial arrangements, that's just fine… pre-register anyway!

Scholarships

Limited scholarships may be available - please ask if interested. If you are attending and can add a few dollars at registration for scholarships, blessings will be yours!

Spread the Word

The call is like an echoing noise, spreading out to all the worlds. So please pass our gathering/website info to folks you think may want to hear the call to magik, play, growth and exploration.

Be the Community

As an experiential co-creation, YOUR attendance is what makes this event all the more rich for each of us. Your creative, powerful self, no matter what level of previous fae/magik/spiritual experience, is welcome. We hope you can be present for the full arc of the gathering, but we do understand that late arrivals or early departures may have to happen to meet your needs. Please be aware that Kawashaway will not be a 'closed space' during this gathering (i.e., neighbors and friends may drop by to visit). Visitors and late arrivers are responsible for their own emotional and/or visceral reactions to entering into existing magic/spiritual/play space!

…Remember who we are.
Remember who we are becoming.
